Racial Justice and Hate/Bias Crimes Training Coordinator
This position coordinates a one-year, statewide, racial justice training project. Facilitates statewide trainings in racial justice and hate/bias crime issues. Responsible for developing a model community dialogue. Based in Charleston, WV with some travel. Looking for an enthusiastic, energetic individual with social justice priorities. Qualifications: Self-motivated, innovative individual with nonprofit experience. Strong organizational and communication skills a must. Reliable transportation needed. Reports to YWCA Executive Director and YWCA Eliminating of Racism Committee. One year funding secured. Part-time w/ partial benefits (37-39 hrs/wk) paid holidays & leave.

Primary Responsibility:
The Racial Justice and Hate and Bias Crimes Training Coordinator will have two main responsibilities. The first will be to facilitate healthier race relations in various communities in WV through improved dialogue. Secondly, the position will facilitate the YWCA’s Hate and Bias Crimes Regional Training Program.
Duties:
- Be familiar with grant budget and objectives, document activities for mandatory, monthly and annual reports.
- Attend and participate all WV Hate Crimes Task Force and OneKanawha meetings.
- Create a County by County, Hate Crimes Services Directory covering the entire state.
- Meet with key partners in the state in preparation for the Train the Trainers Conference and regional trainings with key support from the West Virginia Hate Crimes Task Force.
- Identify potential communities for race discussions based on interest.
- Meet with potential partner organization to establish support for race dialogue initiatives.
- In consultation with the YWCA Elimination of Racism Committee, OneKanawha, the local community members, organizations, and other interested parties, identify potential speakers, topics of interest, and community concerns appropriate for race dialogue foci in project communities.
- Develop at least five community based forums in the state with the goal of improving dialogue on race.
- Provide technical assistance and follow-up support to communities with interest in furthering dialogue on race.
- Conduct at least 15 race dialogue/race relations presentations within schools and/or civic organizations.
- Develop web page to promote and educate about race dialogue opportunities and hate/bias crimes information and services.
- Create publicity materials with the intent of educating about the racial justice position and its services for the public at large.
- Seek feedback from community sites on race discussion initiatives regarding the efficacy of programs. Employ systematic evaluation methodology to this end.
- In consultation with the WV Hate Crimes Task Force and the YWCA staff, create summit agendas, select trainers, and communicate with trainers regarding topics, dates of service, logistics and budgets.
- With the oversight of the YWCA staff, secure contracts with trainers and sites for Hate and Bias Crimes Training.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive training mailing list for Hate and Bias Crimes Training participants, partners, and other interested parties.
- Cull, organize, print and collate conference materials for Hate and Bias Crimes Trainings.
- Develop labels, certificates, name tags, attendance forms, sign-in sheets, continuing education forms, evaluation surveys, and other writings as necessary for Hate and Bias Crimes Trainings.

Maintain training and conference files, and participant records, included completed evaluations.

Prepare and present a written summary of completed evaluations.

Travel to community and training sites.

Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field or a minimum of two years experience in training coordination
- Strong and demonstrated written and oral communication and problem solving skills.
- Experience in coordinating seminars and conferences and the ability to work effectively with consultants and other staff.
- Ability to coordinate activities, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete work within established time frames.
- Proficiency with Windows applications including word processing software.
- A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel within the state of West Virginia.
- Preferred, but not required is a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of racial justice concerns and issues related to hate and bias crimes.
