Ladies, get your luau on! On Thursday, August 12, from 6-11pm, the beautiful grounds of Sunrise Mansion (graciously offered once again by the law firm of Farmer, Cline & Campbell) will be transformed into an island oasis for the valley’s largest ladies-only benefit bash of the summer!

Proceeds benefit domestic violence victims through the YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program. Tickets are $75 through August 7 and $100 effective August 8 and at the door. All tickets are 50% tax deductible and can be purchased online at www.gnowv.com or by calling (304) 340-3573.

“The whole reason behind this event lies in our mission, which is women helping women with power, passion and purpose to raise funds and awareness to eliminate domestic violence,” stated Karen Farmer, co-chair of Girls Night Out. “This year’s ‘Luau on the Lawn’ theme is sure to be a fun way to support such an important cause.”

Upon arriving in style in luxury vehicles provided by Moses Automotive Network, guests will be greeted by lovely ladies and gents in traditional Hawaiian style, offering Mai Tais, leis and other exotic flower adornments. The paparrazzi’s bulbs will flash as each guest walks the red carpet onto the beautifully decorated grounds, courtesy of Valley Gardens. There, ladies will enjoy tropical hors d’oeuvres and island-inspired cocktails served by Men in Bartending. The evening also includes a DJ, live Pacific and Latin-inspired music by Comparsa, and a personal testimony from domestic violence survivor Paula Boothe, who moved from victim to survivor with the support of domestic violence advocates.

Guests should be sure to bring some extra cash/plastic for the unparalleled raffle and auction items the event has in store this year. Take your chance at more than 25 fantastic raffle packages, including spa and beauty services, resort stays, jewelry, designer bags, photography and interior design services, and more. Then get your girlfriends together and bid on some outrageous auction packages, including a 2-week dream vacation in Italy’s Niccone Valley, an exquisite diamond and sapphire starfish necklace, a Las Vegas VIP package with Donny and Marie Osmond, a week at a Palmetto Dunes Hilton Head condo, a Tempur-Cloud Supreme mattress, racetrack clubhouse tickets, an outdoor lighting and landscape package, and a week at Snowshoe.

A record-breaking 650 women attended last year’s “Girls in Pearls: The Black & White Bash” event, which raised more than $110,000. Funds raised through Girls Night Out each year has assisted YWCA Resolve in providing shelter and comprehensive services to domestic violence victims and their children in a tri-county area. Each year, YWCA Resolve reaches more than 3,000 individuals in Kanawha, Boone and Clay counties through shelter and emergency services, case management, court advocacy, counseling, support groups, safety planning, and programs for children, teen dating violence prevention and batterers intervention/prevention.
