Charleston, W.Va. – The 2009 Soroptimist International of Charleston Annual Style Show and Luncheon to benefit the YWCA Sojourners will be held on Saturday, April 4, at the University of Charleston Ballroom, Geary Student Union Building. Doors open at 11:00 am, the luncheon begins at 11:45, and the Style Show starts at 12:30 pm. Jessica Ralston, News Anchor for WSAZ-TV, will be the commentator. Fashions will be provided by Christopher & Banks and Coldwater Creek.
This year’s event will include a silent basket auction, with around 40 baskets provided by local businesses and Soroptimist International of Charleston members. Themed baskets, such as gardening, gourmet foods, books, salon services, beauty and bath, baby, pet, wine, picnic and many others will be available.
Soroptimist International of Charleston has supported Sojourners for many years through its fund-raising projects and personal donations. Since 1989, the club has contributed nearly $40,000 to the shelter from proceeds of the Style Show. The YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women and Families provides services to women, children, and families in crisis.
Soroptimist International of Charleston is the local chapter of the largest international service organization of professional and executive women in the world. The Charleston club was chartered in 1956. West Virginia also has Soroptimist chapters in Morgantown, Fairmont, Wheeling and Martinsburg.
