Great art. Great bargains. Great fun. Great cause. That’s what you’ll find at the YWCA’s Vintage 3 Art Auction on June 18.
Co-chaired by well-known local artists Kemp McElwee and Susan Poffenbarger, this silent auction will feature oils, watercolors, pastels, photography, sculpture, pottery and more at very attractive prices. Plus, guests will enjoy a lively social evening complete with music, wine and delicious hors d’oeuvres. It’s guaranteed to be a great party – and the YWCA hopes you find that perfect piece while you’re at it!
To date, the YWCA has received more than 140 donations of original artwork, including works by the event’s esteemed co-chairs, June Kilgore, Paula Clendenin, Robert Hart, Betty Warner, Diane White, JoAnne Jacobs, Adah Lynch, and many other reputable artists.
All proceeds from Vintage 3 will benefit the YWCA’s social service programs and will be matched dollar for dollar through the YWCA’s $2 Million Challenge campaign. Previous Vintage 1 and Vintage 2 events raised a combined $40,000.
“This year’s artwork includes a wonderful balance of art donated by art owners whose tastes have changed, by art collectors who have added new pieces to their collection and want their older pieces to find a good home, and by artists themselves who want to help such a worthy cause,” McElwee stated.
The public is invited to attend the event to be held on Thursday, June 18 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the YWCA, 1114 Quarrier Street. A minimum $25 donation is requested. Attendees can pre-register online at ywcacharleston.org, or at the door. For more information, call (304) 340-3584.
