Every 14 days, a domestic violence-related homicide occurs in West Virginia. Homeless mothers “live” in abandoned houses or cars—with their children. Elderly disabled women are robbed of their belongings, medicine—and their dignity—by trusted caregivers and relatives. These are some of the devastating situations the YWCA Charleston helps remedy with a variety of social services programs. Your membership helps support the provision of these programs and improves the quality of life not only for our challenged populations but for the greater community as well.
YWCA Membership Regulations
Any woman or girl of the community, twelve (12) years of age or older, upon acceptance of annual dues and membership application, will become a member of the YWCA. Female members fifteen (15) years of age or older will have full voting rights.
YWCA Membership Oath
I pledge my support of the Association’s mission, its Board of Directors and all of the YWCA programs which serve the underprivileged and disenfranchised communities of the Kanawha Valley and beyond, without partiality to any program. I promise to support the YWCA Charleston to my fullest potential and to help eliminate racism and empower women.
