Foodie Feast

Foodie Feast is a culinary event benefitting YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women & Families. More than just a homeless shelter, YWCA Sojourner's is a program with comprehensive services that build the bridge for families between homelessness and sustainable self-sufficiency. As they say at the shelter: "We give you a bed, and a reason to get out of it!"

It is through donors like you that YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women and Families is able to provide things for our residents that many people take for granted – a warm bed at night, the knowledge that their children will have enough to eat and the peace of mind knowing that they are in a safe environment that they can call home.

About Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women & Families

Since 1982 YWCA Sojourner Shelter for Homeless Women and Families has evolved from an overnight shelter in a church basement to the current 75- bed facility located on Washington Street East. YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women and Families provides emergency shelter for more than 700 individuals, including more than 200 children, each year. The shelter serves single women, single parents with children and families.

YWCA Sojourner's is more than a warm meal and a safe place to sleep. YWCA Sojourner's works to build self-sufficiency and sustainability for clients after their stay at YWCA Sojourner's. Mental health and substance abuse counselors are on staff and are located in the shelter to regularly work with clients facing significant issues. Staff provides extensive educational programs for children and works with the school system to ensure children staying at the shelter do not experience any set backs in their education.

YWCA Sojourner's also includes the YWCA Sojourner's Education & Job Readiness Center available to all homeless adults in the Kanawha Valley. This center provides opportunities for individuals to further their education, gain job skills as well as assistance with job placement.
Fundraisers and donations play a critical role in the success of YWCA Sojourner's. Funds raised at Foodie Feast support the services YWCA Sojourner's provides to the most vulnerable populations in our community. We thank you in advance for your generous support!
