Guys Night Out is an annual fundraiser that benefits Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women & Families. YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women & Families serves homeless adults and children here in the Kanawha Valley. In the past year, we have provided 15,587 nights of shelter to 451 homeless individuals, 52,530 nutritious meals, and 9,109 hours of case management and supportive counseling. We couldn't do this without your support. Thank you for your interest in partnering with us for this event!
Restaurants across the Kanawha Valley each bring 300 of their BEST wings (must all be the same flavor) to Guys Night Out. Wings can be prepared or cooked off-site or they can be cooked on-site at the event. They must be finished by the time of the contest. Restaurants compete to win the People’s Choice award, voted on by hundreds of attendees, or the Celebrity Choice award, voted on by a special celebrity guest. The two winning restaurants receive a plaque that can be displayed at their business to advertise their win.
From set-up to tear-down, serving food, selling raffle tickets to monitoring the silent auction, Guys Night Out is only successful because of our great volunteers! Join in on the action by volunteering at the event, and you will receive a commemorative event t-shirt! Please complete the contact form and one of our committee members will be in touch. Thank you!

About Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women & Families
Since 1982 YWCA Sojourner Shelter for Homeless Women and Families has evolved from an overnight shelter in a church basement to the current 75-bed facility located on Washington Street East. YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women and Families provides emergency shelter for more than 700 individuals, including more than 200 children, each year. The shelter serves single women, single parents with children and families.
YWCA Sojourner's is more than a warm meal and a safe place to sleep. YWCA Sojourner's works to build self-sufficiency and sustainability for clients after their stay at YWCA Sojourner's. Mental health and substance abuse counselors are on staff and are located in the shelter to regularly work with clients facing significant issues. Staff provides extensive educational programs for children and works with the school system to ensure children staying at the shelter do not experience any setbacks in their education.
YWCA Sojourner's also includes the YWCA Sojourner's Margaret Taylor Job & Education Readiness Center available to all homeless adults in the Kanawha Valley. This center provides opportunities for individuals to further their education, gain job skills as well as assist with job placement.
Fundraisers and donations play a critical role in the success of YWCA Sojourner's. Funds raised at Guys Night Out support the services YWCA Sojourner's provides to the most vulnerable populations in our community. We thank you in advance for your generous support!
