YWCA Charleston serves thousands of people every year through programs that meet the needs of women and children by offering shelter, meals, educational enrichment, and more. Donations of the following items are always welcome, and most appreciated! 

 

Resident needs:

• New clothing including pajamas, scrubs, t-shirts or lounge wear

• Feminine hygiene supplies

• Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream

• Deodorant, razors, new hair brushes and combs

• Tooth brushes, tooth paste, mouthwash and dental floss

• New washcloths and towels

• New blankets, pillows and twin or full sheets

• Dishes

• Pots & pans

Cleaning supplies:

• Bleach

• All-purpose cleaners

• Laundry detergent

• Dish soap

• Window cleaner

• Carpet Cleaner (Shampooer)

 

Foods:​

• Nutritious snacks, granola bars, cereals

• Fruit juices 

• Canned foods

• Pasta

• Bottled water

• Coffee

 

Maintenance:

• Vacuum cleaners

• Carpet cleaners

• Snow shovels

• Snow blower

• Large clear bins

• 33 gallon trash bags

• Volunteer that can do minor repairs, paint and operate floor cleaning equipment

• Volunteer with truck to help move Sojourner's Shelter residents into their apartments

 

Children's programming:

• Construction paper

• Glue and glue sticks

• Tempra paint

• Wooden sticks, glitter, craft supplies

• Paper plates

• Paint brushes

• DVD format children’s movies (if possible, popular Disney movies)
