YWCA Shanklin Center for Senior Enrichment is a small community of independent-living, handicap-accessible apartments that provide permanent housing for elder abuse victims who became homeless as a result of abuse. Living costs are subsidized; residents contribute one-third of their income to cover a portion of maintaining the apartments. Comprehensive case management and support services also are provided to help our seniors navigate the difficult physical, emotional and financial challenges they face. The YWCA Shanklin Center for Senior Enrichment is the state’s first facility of its kind.

YWCA Empowerment Homes for Women is a small community of handicap-accessible apartments, which provide permanent housing for chronically homeless, disabled women. As its name states, this program empowers residents to move beyond homelessness and experience independent living. Living costs are subsidized, and residents contribute one-third of their income to help cover program expenses and promote financial responsibility. The program also provides case management and support services to help residents address physical, emotional and fiscal challenges.
