Job Purpose: To carryout accounting duties including accounts payable, payroll and general support to the Chief Financial Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable: audit invoices, get authorized approval on program invoices, post invoices in fund accounting software (Financial Edge), balance with journal

  • Payroll: enter payroll in fund accounting software, transmit direct deposits, submit payroll taxes, compile checks for distribution, maintain vacation/sick time balances, compile payroll related reports

  • Enter all cash receipts monthly

  • Compile data from GL and Payroll Reports and DHHR billing

  • Special projects as requested

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Comprehensive Computer Skills, including Microsoft Office; WORD/EXCEL

  • Experience in accounting and bookkeeping or equivalent in advanced education; knowledge of accounting software. Prior experience in Payroll a requirement

Shelter Assistant

Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women and Families

Job Purpose: to ensure the health and safety of each individual and/or families seeking shelter and other supportive services by promoting growth, recovery, and self –sufficiency to those in need.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all rules and regulations of the YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter Program

  • Coordinate, cooperate and communicate with agencies in a positive, effective, and professional manner

  • Accepts crisis referrals and makes appropriate arrangements

  • Conducts intake and follow preventative procedures with all individuals entering the facility during the shift

  • Provides supportive services to residents as needed/deemed appropriate to support their goals towards self-sufficiency

  • Completes required documentation during scheduled shift

  • Assist all donors with the completion of a donation form

  • Assist with meal preparation including all aspects of the kitchen, monitoring temperature in freezer, dry storage areas, labeling food, and cleaning

  • Assign residents appreciation tasks, provide instruction/education if they are having difficulty completing their task and monitor to ensure task completion

  • Clean common areas of the building, emptying rooms, making beds, washing linens and ensure that the outside of the facility is presentable

  • Maintain assignment sheets and other resident records such as service reports and chore lists

  • As required conduct room inspections

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED: and/or experience in working with others in a supervisory role

  • Good oral/written communication skills

  • Ability to work flexible schedules

  • Ability to effectively manage homeless individuals in a non-judgmental manner and with sensitivity to problems of homeless individuals

  • General knowledge and understanding of DHHR homeless person policy

  • Ability to handle crisis situations

  • Ability to enforce shelter rules and policies

  • Ability to document and complete written reports in a timely manner

Residential Aide

Part-Time 24 hours per week Evenings Tuesday - Saturday

  • Coordinate, cooperate and communicate with agencies serving the sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking population.

After Care Specialist

YWCA Charleston - Resolve Family Abuse

Job Purpose: To work with former homeless residents of YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program to provide support, crisis intervention, and mainstream resources to ensure long term self sufficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide community based/in-home services to single women and families with mental health and/or substance abuse issues/diagnoses.

  • Coordinate, cooperate and communicate with agencies serving the sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking population.

  • Provide support and guidance to former participants as needed and complete assessments of an individual and/or family's needs.

  • Complete required documentation during scheduled shift and participate in case review sessions.

  • Model appropriate behaviors that extend caring and empowerment to victims while sustaining victim confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • BA and two years experience in human service, social work, or counseling field preferred.

  • Knowledge, experience, and understanding of substance abuse/mental illness.

  • Ability to communicate with victims of violence, homeless and/or disabled individuals in a non-judgmental manner.

Support Specialist

YWCA Charleston - Resolve Family Abuse

Job Purpose: Provide and coordinate supportive services as part of Resolve's survivor centered advocacy efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group meetings to survivors of domestic violence.

  • Develop appropriate intervention strategies for children who are victims of domestic violence.

  • Consult with Victim Services and Youth Services to facilitate advocacy within CPS on behalf of mothers with open CPS cases.

  • Meet with Counseling Coordinator once a month for mentoring, case review and consultation.

  • Submit monthly records and data needed for grants and other reports as needed.

  • Assist with various duties associated with special events, fundraisers, or trainings and attend two domestic violence trainings per year.

Qualifications:

  • SW or Bachelor's degree in Counseling or other human service field required.

  • Minimum two years' experience.

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours to accommodate evening sessions and crisis situations.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality and abide by National Association of Social Work Code of Ethics.

Lead Teacher

YWCA Charleston - Mel Wolf Child Development

Job Purpose: to direct all activities in a childcare classroom and develops programs and activities appropriate for the learning and social needs of each child, taking into account the particular strengths and weaknesses that each child may possess. EOE

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and carry out a curriculum emphasizing age-appropriate activities to help children learn and develop

  • Develop a schedule and structure in the room that promotes positive interactions with children, guides and directs their behavior, and reduces or eliminates the need for reactive behavior intervention

  • Provide behavior intervention, as needed, without recourse to physical or emotional punishment

  • Provide guidance and supervision to assistant teachers, teacher aides, interns and volunteers to assure that they know when and how to seek appropriate direction or assistance for routine or non-routine/emergency situations

  • Develop positive relationships with parents and encourage them to be involved in their child’s care

  • Be able to explain all center policies to current and potential parents

  • Conduct two (2) parent conferences per year

  • Complete assessments on children as determined by the schedule

  • Monitor classroom configuration, staff practices and children’s behavior to assure that State child care licensing standards are met at all times, including standards related to health and safety

  • Train new staff to comply with policies and procedures of the individual classroom and general childcare practices

  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as assigned

  • Maintain an organized and clean environment including classroom cleaning,

  • Supervise administrative activities in the room, including, but not limited to:

    • Assisting parents with signing each child in and insuring that it is done correctly

    • Keeping information sheets current and in good order, and assuring that all staff know where information sheets are kept

    • Informing staff members of new policies and seeing that they are carried out

    • Maintaining first aid kits and updating them as needed

    • Dispensing medication as directed by the parents and/or the child’s physician, and

    • making sure that medication request forms are completed correctly

    • Maintaining appropriate records for each child

    • Ensuring that the room, toys, and equipment are kept clean and in good order

    • Inspecting equipment regularly for safety purposes and making requests for repairs to

    • equipment in a timely manner

    • Making sure that health and safety routines are carried out at all times

  • Provide required documentation to the Center within 30 days to employment to satisfy STARS

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Child Apprenticeship Certificate CDA or ACDS certification or college/vocational courses in early

  • development

  • Two years experience working in a child care setting

  • Knowledge and ability to meet the requirements of the State child care licensing standards

  • Visual acuity to permit routine assessment of children, observation of child and staff conduct,

  • and to allow development and use of materials, to create a “print rich” environment that

  • includes daily age-appropriate reading and literature activities

  • Auditory acuity sufficient to monitor classroom activity and to engage in meaningful

  • communication with children, parents and staff

  • Expressive communication skills to enable clear guidance to children and staff during routine

  • and emergent situations

  • Must meet health requirements established by state licensing standards

  • Must pass criminal background check
