5 Ways to Participate in Girls Night In: High Hopes Bright Future

Each year, the YWCA Charleston hosts several annual fundraisers and one of those is Girls Night Out. Initiated in the fall of 1998, Girls Night Out - a "Party with a Purpose" - was the brainchild of the High Hopes Committee - an amazing group of volunteer women who were determined to help the YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program in its efforts to eliminate domestic violence. Now in its 23rd season, more than $1 million has been raised over the years to assist the YWCA Resolve's shelter, Hope House, and support YWCA Resolve in continuing to provide emergency shelter, services, and programming for survivors of domestic violence.

Last year, due to the reign of COVID-19 we transitioned our Girls Night Out into Girls Night In, and this year we will do the same. So as we begin our Girls Night In season I wanted to share some things to know!

Why is it Girls Night IN again this year?

Trust me, we want it to be Girls Night Out just as bad as you do but the safety of our guests while COVID-19 is still not at bay is of the utmost priority to us. With that and many other contributing factors, we decided to host another Girls Night In and encourage our guests to celebrate their power, passion, and purpose together in the comfort of their own homes.

Remind me, how can I participate in Girls Night In?

Girls Night In will be a week-long virtual event hosted on our website and on our social media pages, especially Facebook! There are 5 major ways you can participate in-person and online with us this year to help victims of domestic violence.

1. Snag a Bag

Consider this your ticket to this year's virtual party with a purpose! For a donation of $100 or more, you will receive a bag with the party inside. Each Girls Night In: High Hopes Bright Future mesh tote bag comes with the following GNI goodies:

  • Girls Night In: High Hopes Bright Future t-shirt

  • Flip-flops

  • Neon Visor

  • Mirrored Malibu Sunglasses

  • Mood color changing cup w/ lid & straw

  • Bottle of wine

  • Sponsor promotional items, and

  • Raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes ALL WEEK LONG! (The more you donate the more raffle tickets you receive and the more chances you have to win!)

We hope to give you high hopes for a brighter future with this fun tote and encourage you to get your best girls over to celebrate together for a great cause.

Pssst, if you snag a Hostess Bag you'll receive everything in our general totes plus thirty (30) raffle tickets for prize drawings, Morgan Rhea commemorative keychain, Swig or Corkcicle tumbler, Gresham Jewelry Maui Collection waterproof silicone bracelet (made with REAL freshwater & Tahitian pearls) AND free delivery*!

*Address must be within 20 miles of Charleston, WV for delivery

**Only forty (40) Hostess Gift Bags available

2. Participate in a Virtual Class

With this event being virtual, we knew we wanted to provide something interactive for our participants while also providing a way to support local businesses who could donate their time and talent to us in a different way, thus we have Girls Night In Virtual Classes each evening during the week. What can you expect this year? Take a look!

Tune in each day during August 8-14th to see these awesome classes and donate on the Facebook 'Donate" button on each video to be entered for a chance to win class prizes! $1 = 1 entry, so the more you donate the more chances you have to win that class prize!

3. Bid in the Online Auction

Each year the auction is a living boutique at Girls Night Out and our online auction is just a virtual version of that! Visit and click on the 'Online Auction' page to browse and see what items we have for you this year to bid on. The auction will go LIVE on August 8th and last all week long! Last year we had everything from shopping parties, to getaways to Snowshoe Resort, to handcrafted Morgan Rhea bags, and more!

4. Support a Local Business

One thing about an event is that we have TONS of local businesses that help us with in-kind donations of food, beverages, and more. That doesn't change just because this event is virtual! Here are some local places you should check out:

  • Coal River Coffee Company - During the month of July, get your coffee fix with Coal River Coffee Company in Saint Albans. They will be offering an Iced White Mocha with Peach Cold Foam and the best part is that a portion of the proceeds from each drink benefit Girls Night In!

  • Rock City Cake Company - Rock City will be offering special cookies and cupcakes on the day of August 14th for those wanting to celebrate and we will be hosting our raffle drawings that day LIVE at the bakery! So come down and support them.

  • The Wine Shop at Capitol Market - The Wine Shop will be featuring a special wine during their virtual class on August 11th so be sure to tune in and then go purchase because part of the proceeds of that wine will go back to the cause!

5. Host Your Own 'Girls Night In' & Show Us How You #GNI2021

Girls Night Out started as small gatherings hosted by some amazing women who wanted to raise funds for the Resolve Family Abuse Program, so in a way Girls Night In is going back to our roots!

Ultimately this year, we want you to join in on the fun and embrace our high hopes for a brighter future ahead by getting your closest girls together to host your own Girls Night In on August 14th. This event is all about celebrating each other and raising critical funds for victims of domestic violence and their children. Whether you're a domestic violence survivor, family member and/or friend of one, or just a supporter of the cause we want you to enjoy this chance for an intimate time with each other as we strive to eliminate domestic violence.

So snag a bag, tune into raffle drawings/virtual classes/survivor stories, embrace our neon positive theme this year, and show us how you #GNI!
